Moving Insurance and Liability for State to State Relocation

Home > Long Distance Moving

Moving liability and insurance coverage can be very technical as well as difficult to understand.
Our goal at Elite Moving & Storage is to provide you with the clearest explanation of our coverage types, including standard coverage and any additional coverage you might require.

All licensed and insured moving companies must provide each customer with Basic Carrier Liability coverage. The price for Basic Carrier Liability coverage is set by law and it is the minimum coverage that a moving company must provide.

Basic Liability Coverage:

Basic Carrier Liability is free and it is always included in the estimate.
The Basic Liability converge is $0.60 per pound per article.

For example, if you own an item worth $400 weighing 100 pounds, a mover would be liable only up to $60.00.

Declared Value Coverage:

Declared Value coverage is not included in the estimate and it is additional cost. The Declared Value is based on the total weight of the shipment times $1.25 per pound.

For example, if your belongings weigh a total of 1,000 pounds, the mover would be liable for a maximum of $1,250.

You can purchase additional insurance for your shipment through our partner movinginsurance.com or check with your insurance agent for additional coverage.

Please contact a representative at Elite Moving & Storage for further information on associated charges.
